A Treat to Myself

I went shopping today for a few bits and bobs! Been working so much lately that I decided I deserved a little spending time so off I went to browse around Dublin after college.
My main mission was to get a comfy pair of casual shoes just to wear around because most of my shoes have heels and even though they are comfy, I just wanted a nice pair of casual trainers.
My first stop was Pennys on Henry Street as I walked by it on Saturday on the way to the Dublin Bloggers Meet Up and had to control my urge to go in then. When I went in I was completely lost at first….it was so much bigger than the one in Galway! I loved it! Most of the upstairs is shoes so I had a nice time browsing around to find the right pair. Unfortunately the pair I originally wanted didn’t come in black so I settled for a pair like it just without the lovely studs on the sides! Still happy with the buy! :D

€11 for these beauts in Pennys

I then proceeded to look for some earrings as I literally only had one pair left. Since I had stretched my ears a couple of years ago and let them go back to normal, earrings just tend to fall out. So I always have to make sure I have backs for them. I used to have about 5 pairs of lovely owl earrings but one of each pair would always fall out of my ear without me knowing and is gone forever! I do enjoy mismatching the remaining ones I have but really needed to get some more. Also all my stud earrings got lost too!
I found a nice set of studs in Pennys which suited me perfectly.
I also found a beautiful necklace in there while browsing for the earrings.

€3 for the necklace€3 for the set of studs also in Pennys <3

After Pennys I went into New Look to have a look around and ended up finding some lovely feather earrings and a beautiful owl earrings and necklace set….was so happy with this buy!
(If you haven’t realized by now…I love owls….)

€7.99 for the matching owl earrings and necklace. €5.85 for the gorgeous feather earrings
both in New Look

I also saw an umbrella that I just had to have….needed to get one after the horrible rain we’ve been having in Ireland lately! (Guess what was on the umbrella? :P)

€12.99 for this cute umbrella...I just had to have it
Owls of course…. <3

I decided that was enough shopping for one day as I had spent enough money but then of course on my way out of the shopping centre I ventured into The Art and Hobby Shop…..bad idea…..ended up coming out with a cute little crafts book for sewing and stitching….. But I love it all the same :D

€25.99 in the Art and Hobby Shop
My most expensive buy today but it had to be done!

Then that was it! I controlled my urge to go into any more shops and made my way towards my bus stop. I didn’t know when the bus was but then I suddenly got a craving for a Starbucks Caramel Frappuchino….. I then had to have one. It had been so long since I had gotten a Starbucks. So off I went, past my bus stop and over to dame street where I ventured into Starbucks for my caffeine fix.

The guy at the desk was just lovely and I was chatting to him for a few minutes after he took my order, he was really pleasant to chat to. Then finally the beloved Frappuchino arrived…. I took my coffee and happily made my way to the bus stop, not really caring if I had to wait awhile for my bus home.

The real cherry on top though was as I arrived at the stop the bus showed up! A perfect ending to my shopping trip in town. <3

Me enjoying my lovely caramel freppuchino right before the bus arrived <3
Note to self: Don't take credit card with you to Dublin when you have money....:P

LUCH Cosmetics Sample Review

Quick update with a review of a couple of products I was recently given samples of!
When I was in Dublin waiting to meet a couple of my friends I decided to go into LUSH Cosmetics on Grafton Street. I got talking to one of the representatives in the shop who told me about the products and what would suit my skin. I explained to her about my eczema and how sensitive my skin is so it can be very hard for me to find washes and gels that won’t cause a reaction.

She then shows me the Dreamwash Shower Smoothie, she explained that this product is made to suit people with easily irritated skin so they use a range of soothing natural ingredients! These include aloe vera, lavender, rose, tea tree, calamine and chamomile. I have to say that it smelled amazing! I really wanted to buy a full tub which was about €20 or so, but I had to make sure it wouldn’t react with my skin first. I told the woman that I write an online blog and am looking for new products to try out and review for other people who have the same problem with skin products as me. She seemed quite interested and said she would give me a few samples to try out.

LUSH Dreamwash Shower Smoothie

Another product that I was given a sample of was LUSH Big Solid Conditioner. I had never heard of solid conditioner before and when I saw it I was surprised. It was just a block almost like soap, very soft and easy to break bits off. The shop assistant explained to me how to use it and gave me a good chunk as a sample also. I was delighted and thanked her! I also got to try out a couple of hand creams and moisturisers in the shop, I came out smelling fabulous! :D

LUSH Big Solid Conditoner

I tried out the products the next day during my morning shower! The Dreamwash Shower Smoothie smelled lovely and soaked into my skin nicely. The lovely smell of lavender and camomile filled the bathroom! I rinsed off the wash and my skin felt quite good but I hadn’t made up my mind it about it just yet. My skin tends to have late reactions to things, usually with bathroom items it would react when I get out of the shower and dry myself off. But this product didn’t cause any reaction or irritation and left my skin soft and smooth. The lovely smell stayed on my skin all day, not to strong but still noticeable! This is definitely a product I will be returning to buy and would recommend it for people with sensitive skin. Although I would still suggest trying a sample first if your skin is anything like mine, just to be safe. J

I also tried out the LUSH Solid Conditioner; I found it a bit difficult to make it into more of a paste to be able to put it in my hair. The shop assistant said just to lather it in my hand then apply it to my hair but it took a little while to do so. I did manage to get it in my hair though and washed it through. Once again the smell was divine! It didn’t run through my hair like a normal conditioner would as it was much thinner than other conditioners. I washed it out and after drying my hair the smell stayed nicely and every now and again I’d get a whiff of my hair and it made me quite happy! My hair came out smooth with little knots when brushing out. I then straightened it then and it was very easy to get my hair under control.

I was very happy with this product but I don’t know if I like the Solid Conditioner. When I go in again to stock up on a couple of products I may get the normal LUSH gel conditioner instead.

This was my first time using LUSH products and I was very happy with the outcome! If you want good products that aren’t hard on the skin and smell amazing then I’d definitely suggest having a look in this shop in Dublin. You might see me in there trying to decided what flavour products I want to get! There are so many different smells :D

I hope you enjoyed my little review. In my next blog I’ll be reviewing a few make-up products I received from The Body Shop, Dublin. Keep an eye out

Till Then!

Skin Care

Sat down after a long day of basking in the sun and thought I'd post a little blog about how important skincare is.

Enjoying a nice cup of tea with some natural blueberry yogurt

The Importance of Sun Cream

"Skin damage from sunlight builds up with continued exposure, whether sunburn occurs or not. In addition to skin cancer and sunburn, other effects can include wrinkling, premature aging, and in time, an almost leathery appearance of the skin. Research also suggests that excessive exposure to UV radiation may interfere with the body's immune system."

D8

To block any harmful solar emissions, sunscreens employ a mix of organic and inorganic ingredients that either reflect, scatter or absorb the radiation and dissipate it as heat.

You can read more about the importance of sun cream HERE

I use factor 50+ myself....that is because I dont tan...I burn.
Very Easily.

General Skin Care

Today I got to restock all my skin care products to keep the spots away and to stop my skin from appearing oily.

My teddy TQ is here to show you all my skin products.
He comes from Iraq so he knows how intense the weather can be against your skin
:D

As you can see from the picture above that all my products are good for sensitive skin. This is important for me as my skin can react to anything added into lotions and gels.

Got a big bag of cotton balls in Tesco for €2.00. These are great to use with any skin products.
Very gentle on the skin.

First up is my Aveno Moisturizing Cream, I find the Aveno range excellent to keep your skin hydrated. Especially for someone with Eczema like myself.
I bought this in Boots, Galway for €10.69

I also bought a couple of different Simple Products.
Simple Cleansing Lotion and Facial Toner were bought in Tesco Galway for €3.99 each
But today I got these at buy 1 get free  :D

Also got a couple of packets of Simple Face Wipes which are important to use for cleaning your face and to remove make up.
These were also bought in Tesco for €4.19 each.
But again, today was buy 1 get 1 free!

Happy Days!

I also have Tea Tree Foot Wash and Lotion.
It's important to take care of the skin on your feet also. You dont want them to crack and dry out.
I got these as a gift in a skin care set awhile back so I dont have a price or location to buy them but you can usually buy these in any pharmacy with a good skin care selection.

Well thats all for now but I hope that this might have helped anyone with super sensitive skin like myself to get an idea of a couple of products to use.

My Usual Look

So I decided to put in an extra bit into my blog of how i do my look and the products I'd normally use.

I was never really into fashion and make up and the likes when i was young. I was quite the tomboy but in the last few years I've become more interested in my look and expressing who i am through my image as well as my actions.

This is my general day-to-day look anyway.
I use light foundation on my skin as i am very very pale. Some mascara and usually a bit of gloss or lipstick.

I use  Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid for my skin. Any foundation i wear is always the shade Ivory. Any darker than that and i look ridiculous.

I usually switch between mascara but right now I'm using No7 Exceptional Definition. I like this mascara as it doesn't clump bad and dries nice and quick. So i have no black lines on my eyelids.

Today I'm using Rimmel London lipstick. Shade Coral in Gold. I like this colour as it's nice and light but still has a lovely brightness to it. Lipstick isn't something I'd normally use because i find them to dark to go with my skin colour but i really like this product. It goes nicely with the light make up look.

That's pretty much my whole make up look but for moisturizer I use Moonlight Path

I absolutely love this moisturizer and recommend it to anyone who suffers from eczema/dry skin.
It's triple moisture body cream from the Signature Collection in Bath & Body Works.
I received it as a gift from America so i don't know if you can get in it Ireland.

My perfume of choice is Lady Gaga Fame.

I absolutely love this perfume but sadly I have nearly run out! I have to restock because it is my favorite perfume to wear.

Jewelry and The Likes

I have a few items of jewelry that I would wear on a daily basis.

My favorite necklace that I own. You can see me wearing it in the top picture as well.
I got this lovely thing in New Look in Galway for 8.

I always wear my Claddagh ring.
It has my birthstone in it also (Aquamarine - Aries)
The owl bracelet was got from Claires Accessories, Galway.
I think it was about €5.
I absolutely love owls.
And of course my owl ring which is worn most days.
This was a gift from my friend Sabrina.
She knows me and my owl addiction all too well.

I also tend to work the Converse most of the time. Sometime i do wear High-Tops but since my recent trip to the Aran Islands for a photo shoot...they got destroyed. It was a dark time.

But here are my Superman Converse which i love dearly.

These were a gift from my mammy but generally you can get converse in any big shoe store around Ireland.
They generally cost around €50-€60

Well that's about all for my day-to-day look.
Will post up more fashion features and items which i get my hands onto.

Till then.... :D
